This card was based on an inspirational card created for employee training at Song Airlines, Delta's low-cost carrier created in 2003. Song was re-integrated into Delta as of April 30, 2006.
This Delta version of the card was created for the Velvet Rope Tour, a series of 2-day sessions with 400 employees at a time, initially for Delta's flight attendants, beginning on February 13, 2006. Velvet Rope Tour was a part of Delta's bankruptcy emergence strategy. The purpose of these meetings was to ensure Delta's customer service team members were aware of the transformation plan and remained positive and engaged.
On VRT's first day, employees attended a session on merging the culture of Song Airlines with the best aspects of the service heritage of Delta to create a new Delta experience with a strong emphasis on customer service. That night, employees attended a party where they had a chance to mingle with senior executives. The next half day included tactical training sessions.
This card was also distributed at Delta's Bankruptcy Emergence Celebration and new brand launch at the Technical Operations Center (TOC) in Atlanta, on April 30, 2007.
