|Title||Delta Martini Glass|
|Collection||Delta Air Lines Onboard Items|
|Object Name||Glass, Cocktail|
|Description||Clear conical-shaped glass. No markings.|
The donor Betty Brown Gwynn, a former Delta stewardess (today's flight attendant), remembers these glasses for serving martinis being introduced on Delta's Convair 880, which were all first-class configuration in 1960. Flight attendants poured premixed martinis from single-serving bottles and added an olive.
In-use dates for this glass are based on the donor's dates of service with Delta (1960-1965) and another retired flight attendant who started in 1964, and does not remember seeing these style of glasses.
This style of glass may have been in use by Delta since 1958, when the airline began serving alcoholic beverages on its Royal Service all-first-class flights.
