Framed shadowbox contains a small piece of fabric and a small piece of duramold laminated wood from the HK-1 (Hughes H-4 Hercules), which date from 1947 and became available when the plane was refurbished. The pieces are mounted against a backdrop of scale drawings of the HK-1.
A plaque in the shadowbox explains the significance of HK-1 and names this item as: "Limited-edition presentation piece #55 of 160 custom-designed pieces prepared for Conquistadores del Cielo with the cooperation of The Evergreen Air Venture Museum in 1997".
The bottom section of the frame has a small brass plate engraved "Hollis L. Harris." On back of the frame is glued a small illustrated poster about the HK-1 and Howard Hughes.
|Provenance||This presentation item was prepared for Conquistadores del Cielo, a private organization for airline executives, with the cooperation of The Evergreen Air Venture Museum in 1997. It was presented to World Airways CEO (and former Delta President and COO) Hollis Harris, who was a member of Conquistadores del Cielo.|
