Description This flight crew nameplate is a metal holder with plastic (celluloid?) labels printed in black: "Pilot, 2nd Pilot, Stewardess" and spaces for three more name cards. This holder includes a plastic name card for Pilot "W.W. Lewis" and Stewardess "Miss Conner, R.N." The second pilot name plate is missing. The metal holder is mounted to a small piece of gray painted wood.
Provenance This flight crew nameplate was installed on the cockpit door in view of the passengers seats in the cabin. Western Air Express flight attendants, called stewardesses at the time, were required to be registered nurses until World War II, when the military's need for nurses became a priority.
