Object Name Cooler

Description Stainless steel rectangle-shaped insulated case with hinged lid and leather handle. Embossed "DELTA AIR LINES" on lid and "DRINK Coca-Cola" on sides. Lid fastens with two stainless steel latches.
Depth (in) 6.25
Height (in) 11
Width (in) 15.5
Provenance The only Coca-Cola cooler that was co-branded for Delta. A significant artifact from the early days of Delta and Coca-Cola's long partnership.

This was the second type of Coca-Cola cooler used on Delta flights. A bucket cooler was used in 1940, when Delta first carried Coca-Cola onboard.

Donated by John Joiner to the Delta Flight Museum in memory of Joe Maknauskas, the Museum's Aircraft and Facility Manager who passed away in 2012. John said that Joe was so much a part of DC-3, Ship 41's restoration and maintenance, and this cooler would have been used on a Delta DC-3, so he would like to make this his way of remembering Joe.
