Provenance Rosenthal's Continental China "Script" and "Charcoal" patterns were designed for mix-and-match use by famous industrial designer Raymond Loewy and sold to the public.

Pan American selected the two china collections for its "President Special," deluxe first class service offered from New York to London, Paris, Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires. Pan Am's regular first class service was simply called "The President."
