Provenance Model of Boeing 314 Dixie Clipper, which was delivered to Pan Am in April 1939. Dixie Clipper inaugurated Pan Am's trans-Atlantic passenger service on June 29, 1939 (Port Washington, New York-Horta-Lisbon-Marseilles). It was purchased by the U.S. Navy in 1942, but continued to be operated by Pan Am. Carried President Frankin Roosevelt to the Casablanca Conference to meet with Churchill and Stalin, on January 14, 1943, making Roosevelt the first in-office president to fly, and Dixie Clipper the first presidential airplane.
