Title Catherine FitzGerald's Delta ID Badge (Employee #6)
Date ca. 1941
Collection Delta Air Lines Uniforms: Other
Object Name Badge, Identification
Catalog Number 1995.350.1
Description Silvertone and blue metal holder has leather straps and metal buckle to wear on wrist. There are plastic protective covers over a black-and-white employee photo and a label with employee's name "C. FitzGerald" and number 6.
Height (in) 10.25
Width (in) 1.625
Provenance Believed to be Delta's first style of employee badge, implemented as part of heightened airport security measures when United States entered World War II. From photos and other badges in collections, we believe this badge is unique in being modified to wear on the wrist. Other employees seem to have worn ID badge pinned to shirt or on belt loop.
