Description Navy blue 100% polyester necktie printed with a pattern of red, white, and blue diagonal stripes and white and gold aircraft (Travel Air flown by Delta Air Service in 1929, and a 1970s Delta Lockheed L-1011 TriStar). The lining is printed with a repeating pattern of Delta's "Travel Air to TriStar 50" logo. On back of the necktie is a metal Golden Clasp by Prince Consort, U.S. Patent 2,990,551, with instructions "Put small end thru loop label." The metal clasp clipped to wearer's shirt. Also on back is a label: "Commemorating the 50th anniversary of Delta Airlines [sic]"

Provenance This necktie was one of the commemorative items produced for Delta's 50th anniversary of passenger service in 1979. It was presented to David Spence, Delta Director - International Finance Asia, in November 2016, by Yutaka Kobayashi, a former executive of Japan Airlines, who received it as a gift about 25 years ago.
