This model represents a South African Airways Airbus A340-600, as delivered between December 2002 and May 2005, when they replaced South African's Boeing 747 fleet.
In 1999, South African Airways and Delta began a codeshare arrangement with South African-operated flights between Atlanta and South Africa.
In June 2006, South African Airways and Delta terminated their codeshare agreement because of the airlines' memberships in rival alliances (Star Alliance and SkyTeam respectively).
