Provenance Promotional item from the introduction of Delta's newest aircraft in 1948, the 56-passenger Douglas DC-6, which started service on December 1, 1948. The DC-6 was the first Douglas aircraft to exceed 300 miles-per-hour cruise speed. It was also Delta's first pressurized and air-conditioned aircraft. Ads promoted Delta's DC-6 fleet as "None Faster, None Finer to and thru' the South."
